If you are starting to think about giving a gift to your old buddy or girlfriend give them something different this year. Get them an annual AMVETS membership. Each department should be looking at state level for opportunities to reward veterans in public life. Post leadership, find someone with a son or daughter in Afghanistan and let them know AMVETS is here for them now and when they return. When was the last time you sent a letter to your MALs??
